Piccolo Pillow - Black & White
SKU: 073391-846
$68.00

This cotton cushion cover features the Piccolo pattern, which is printed in Helsinki. In 1953, Vuokko Eskolin-Nurmesniemi created the striped fabric pattern painted with vivid brushstrokes. Three years later, the iconic Jokapoika (every boy) shirt made from the fabric appeared in stores and the streets. The removable cover is sewn from two pieces, which makes the pattern run in two different directions, and has a concealed zipper on one side with double-stitched seams. Made in Finland.

Please note - as cushion covers are sewn using the whole width of the fabric pattern may differ from what's pictured.

Founded in 1951 by visionary Finnish textile designer Armi Raitia and her husband, Viljo, Marimekko grew from a small textile-printing firm into an international phenomenon. From its beginnings as a textile design company, Marimekko (meaning “Mary’s dress”) branched out into everything from toys to dinnerware to architecture, becoming something of a lifestyle brand in the 1960s and 70s. The company’s outstanding designers revolutionized modern printed fabrics and fashion. Today the company continues to collaborate with young artists, encouraging experimentation. The result is spirited, non-traditional patterns and vivid colors.
