Tasaraita Unikko One Socks - Navy/Red
SKU: 094038-550L
$36.00

We love this pattern, combining Marimekko's classic Unikko and Tasaraita patterns. Made in Portugal, these socks are a cotton blend. Choose your size from the dropdown.

A young Maija Isola designed this abstracted pattern of poppies in 1964 after being told that Marimekko would never produce a floral print. Over four decades and countless color combinations, Unikko remains Marimekko’s most enduring pattern. The iconic stripes of Tasaraita pattern are evenly spaced, signifying equality. Annika Rimala wanted to design a collection of cotton jersey clothes to go with jeans. For all denim lovers, regardless of age, size or gender.

Founded in 1951 by visionary Finnish textile designer Armi Raitia and her husband, Viljo, Marimekko grew from a small textile-printing firm into an international phenomenon. From its beginnings as a textile design company, Marimekko (meaning “Mary’s dress”) branched out into everything from toys to dinnerware to architecture, becoming something of a lifestyle brand in the 1960s and 70s. The company’s outstanding designers revolutionized modern printed fabrics and fashion. Today the company continues to collaborate with young artists, encouraging experimentation. The result is spirited, non-traditional patterns and vivid colors.
